Lilli's Growth Saga

Yesterday Lilli went for an MRI of the brain. She has not been growing very much since about 15 months and is well below the curve, at about 1 %. Thyroid, Liver, Kidney and chromosone problems have been ruled out after numerous tests. Her pedi wants to see if the parts of her brain such as the pituitary function, which control growth are developed as they should be. If this looks fine, then we will move onto one more test to determine if growth hormone therapy is right for her. This is a bit involved and will require a hospital stay. We are very fortunate to have such a great pedi, as his speciality is pediatric endroncology.

She was so happy the first 45 minutes prior to the MRI, here is a picture of her in the gown before the scan. She had no clue as to what was going to happend. They had to give her anthesia to put her to sleep since the MRI took about an hour to perform since they did with and without contrast. She was so upset when they took her away from me, I cried watching her receive the gas and fall asleep. She took about an hour to recover from the anthesia, but had no side affects from the contrast! What a little trooper! She has been through a lot lately.
